Cleverley: “He's Won Us A Point”

Watch Tom Cleverley's post-match interview via the video above, or read on for some snippets below.

Tom Cleverley has had the privilege of working with Ben Foster at both Manchester United and Watford, so he's pretty well-placed to deliver an assessment of the 35-year-old stopper's ability in-between the sticks.

Foster's performance against Brighton on the South Coast has set a marker that could be hard to beat in the Individual Performance of the Season category, and Cleverley was quick to praise the saves Foster made that kept them in it at the Amex.

“I thought the one with his foot was unbelievably instinctive. He's a top, top keeper,” said the midfielder. “He's a great character, he's been an unbelievable signing for us and won us a lot of points.

“He's one of the smiliest guys I know! You see his reaction after he's saved it - he's just smiling - he's a great guy.

“He's great to have and he's definitely won us a point.”

It was a bit of a damp squib of a game otherwise, but Cleverley is - like the rest of the squad - singing from the same hymnsheet as Javi Gracia, when it comes to being very demanding of the team's performances.

“We were quite solid and deserved a clean sheet in the end, but we're disappointed that we didn't create as much as we know we can,” said Cleverley. “We can be more of a threat.”
