I’m excited because it was a dream for me to play in the Premier League, and I’m ready to do all the work to make this happen
Christian Kabasele joined Watford in July 2016 on a five-year deal from Belgian side Genk.
The defender developed a reputation as a goalscorer during his first season with the Hornets, chipping in with three goals in just 18 appearances in what was an injury-hindered campaign.
Kabasele built on his debut season – making 28 appearances in the Premier League and finding the back of the net against Everton and Tottenham Hotspur in 2017/18.
Born in the Democratic Republic of Congo (formerly Zaire), Kabasele started his career as a striker with Belgian outfits Eupen and Mechelen before spending a year in Bulgaria with Ludogorets Razgrad.
Kabasele returned to Eupen prior to agreeing a free transfer to fellow Belgian side Genk in 2014. Now a regular in the Belgium squad, the stopper turned out 81 times for Genk as he made a remarkable transition into a defender, still pitching in with the odd goal.
His impressive displays for Genk saw him included in Belgium’s Euro 2016 squad as they made the Quarter-Finals.
