An exciting opportunity to work for Watford FC’s Community Sports and Education Trust as a Community Coach (Core School Delivery) has become available.

The Trust is seeking to recruit an enthusiastic, motivated and committed individual to this 25 hours per week, part-time role. This position presents an exciting opportunity for a dynamic individual to join our team, based at Watford FC training ground, London Colney.

The postholder will be responsible for delivering and organising one of the Trust’s School Sport PPA (Planning Preparation and Assessment) contracts. This role will also include delivery across other school-based programmes including after school sessions, PL Primary Stars and Move & Learn. In addition, the post holder will be expected to be involved in delivery of one of the Trust’s Player Development Centres.

The role involves providing high quality football/sports coaching and education sessions for children and teachers in selected primary schools, both during curriculum and extra-curriculum time, with the aim of retaining and increasing the number of schools working with the Trust.

The postholder’s role is to educate young people around enjoying the benefits of sport with the aim of enhancing their physical literacy and fundamental movement skills. Outside of school term times the postholder will be expected to deliver their weekly contracted hours on other Trust related activities including holiday courses.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • At least two years’ experience of working with children and young people of all abilities in a school environment.
  • Coaching qualifications including a Level 1 in Coaching Football, First Aid and Safeguarding.
  • Experience of delivering PE / educational content within a primary school setting.
  • Experience of working with teachers in a primary school setting.
  • Proficient IT skills including presentation skills.
  • Good organisational and problem-solving skills.
  • A full and valid UK Driving Licence, as well as access to a vehicle for work.
  • A passion to make a difference through sport and education.

Desirable:

  • Working towards achieving or has completed the Level 3 Certificate in Supporting the Delivery of Physical Education and School Sport award (AFPE)
  • Good knowledge of the Primary School Curriculum and OFSTED guidelines for PE in schools
  • Applicants will need to have a flexible approach to work and be available during curriculum and extra curriculum time. In return, we will support and develop the successful candidate.
