Brandon Mason & Carl Stewart On Burton Win
If league results have provided little joy in recent weeks, one pleasing aspect for Watford fans has no doubt been the steady flow of academy graduates making their debut’s for Walter Mazzarri’s side.
Midfielder Carl Stewart yesterday became the 60th academy player to appear for the first team and the third in the last seven days, something which leaves the 19-year-old hungrier than ever in his pursuit of further opportunities.
“It’s something you dream about really,” he told watfordfc.com after coming on as a late replacement.
“I didn’t think I'd be coming on so when I did come on it was a bit of a shock but I think the scariest part is the manager calling you and getting ready, but once you’re on the pitch it’s just normal.
“I can’t explain how hungry I am but I like the feeling and I want to keep having it.”
Brandon Mason is another recent debutant and went one step further yesterday as he made his first start for the Hornets, grabbing an assist and playing the full 90-minutes on the left-hand side.
“It’s been a dream to be honest,” Mason said, when asked about his rapid rise in recent weeks.
“I’ve been thinking about this from the start of the season and how I wanted to be part of the first team.
“I’m finally getting the chance now thanks to the manager and I feel like I’m taking it. I just want to keep going.”
