Head Coach's quotes

Walter Mazzarri spoke to both BT Sport and Match of the Day after his side's historic victory.

"This win gives me a lot of confidence. I'm very happy for the club, the fans and the players," Mazzarri said.

"It wasn't an easy game but we kept our concentration. We got a little bit afraid when we conceded the goal but we were playing well and the substitutions helped us a lot.

"We have been improving a lot over the past few weeks and we are looking at how we are performing more than the results.

"We're playing well but now we have to look ahead to the Burnley game on Monday and focus again."

2:41 PM

“A great team performance”- Prodl

Sebastian Prodl spoke to Premier League Productions after he won Man of the Match:

"It was a great team performance from us and a well deserved win.

"We struggled with their level in the second half,  but we were strong enough and clever enough in defence.

"We've had a hard start and every game is difficult. We will celebrate the win but our focus is to carry on working -  we play Burnley on Monday."

2:30 PM

Deeney & Capoue on beating the Red Devils

Skipper Troy Deeney and Etienne Capoue spoke to BT Sport after the full-time whistle:

Deeney said "For us, back-to-back wins and with the opening fixtures we had to have, seven points is a good return.

"We have some really good quality players here and some real men in there too. We had chances, but when they scored we showed what we are made of and we came back well."

Capoue said "I am playing more offensively and I'm enjoying it!

"We should have scored more in the first half but we finished the game really well."

The Hornets will be disappointed with this one.

Nothing in the way of chances so far in the second half.

HALF-TIME: Watford 1-0 Manchester United

What a half of football at Vicarage Road!

You would have to say the Hornets deserve their lead. Chances for Sebastian Prodl, Odion Ighalo and Troy Deeney had all gone begging, before Etienne Capoue opened the scoring.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Paul Pogba both went close for Manchester United, but it's the Golden Boys that go in at half-time ahead.

Paul Pogba almost gets the opener with a vicious effort that leaves Gomes rooted, cannoning back off the crossbar and away.

Roberto Pereyra skips past his old Juventus teammate Paul Pogba.

12:22 PM - 21 MIN

Zlatan Misses

And now the visitors go close!

Martial's cross finds Zlatan Ibrahimovic at the back-post, and everyone in the stadium thought goal. Surprisingly, the Swede smashes into the side netting. A let off for the Hornets!

Valon Behrami battles with Manchester United's Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

12:13 PM - 12 MIN

Oh what a chance!

Manchester United breathe a huge sigh of relief here.

Luke Shaw and David De Gea go for the same ball, which falls to Odion Ighalo who has the whole goal to aim for - and somehow he shoots wide. Hornets putting the pressure on!

12:12 PM - 10 MIN

Sebastian Prodl heads a Jose Holebas free-kick back across goal, but Etienne Capoue is unable to get that vital touch as the Hornets go in search of an opener.

12:07 PM - 8 MIN

A slow start at The Vic

Cagey here at Vicarage Road, neither side wanting to give anything away early. The visitors, perhaps as expected, seeing more of the ball in the opening minutes.

We're underway and the Golden Boys are shooting towards the Vicarage Road end. Come on you 'Orns!
