Safia Middleton-Patel spoke to watfordfc.com following Watford FC Women’s 2-0 away win at Durham, reflecting on the clean sheet, an impressive diving save, and how she has settled in at the club so far.

The Golden Girls raced into the lead thanks to Carly Johns' sixth goal of the season, before a second-half strike from Coral Haines secured a second league win of the campaign.

It was quite fun. It is one of those difficult games where you have to stay alive - there were periods where I didn’t have the ball for 20 minutes and then the next I had it for the next 10 minutes!

It was one of those where I had to keep on at the backline but it was fun at the same time. It was really good to get a result, and a clean sheet to top it off, so a really good game.

I just dived! We were doing it in training, me and Jaqs [Goldsmid], she has been pushing me this week and I think it paid off, I just sent it really.

We all get on really well. The dynamic is great, the group is great, and the philosophy of the team. It is a nice group to settle in with, so it has been very positive.

I'm buzzing with the win. I’m glad we started off on the front foot and we just continued that throughout the game which is good, the finishes were top notch and it’s exactly what we wanted.

I am very excited about playing at home. I haven’t been yet so it’s going to be an exciting day and hopefully we can take what we did today and perform well.
