Women: Kmita Joins Golden Girls

Watford FC are delighted to announce the signing of former Tottenham, West Ham and London Bees midfielder Rosie Kmita.

The energetic playmaker joins the Golden Girls after a brief spell away from playing as she focused on her growing media career. She was a key voice in the 2019 Women’s World Cup coverage and regularly makes appearances on Sky, BBC, FA TV and talkSPORT.

Kmita is now excited to return to playing as the new signing feels like she has found the right environment for her to get back out onto the pitch.

“It feels great to sign for Watford,” she told watfordfc.com. “I think I haven’t felt the love for the game for a long time so for me to be back in an environment where I can do a job and feel valued and confident is huge for me.”

The 26-year-old has been training with the Golden Girls over the past few weeks, but the midfielder feels like her decision to join the Hornets was made after just one session at London Colney. “The coaching staff made me realise I wanted to join straight away,” she said.

“After that first session I knew this is the environment I wanted to be involved in. They really push you and you are challenged as soon as you go to the training ground and that’s huge for me.”

Kmita hopes to bring her qualities to the squad not only on the pitch but off it too.

“I’d like to think that I’m able to bring a burst of energy into the team,” she continued. “I feel like I can make tackles at the right time and help the team go on and break lines and play forward.

“As a person I just love the team environment and I hope to bring my experience of being in different dressing rooms through my career too. I know how to look after a young player if they’re coming through and I know how to be around the more mature players too.”
