Women: Departures Announced

By: Watford FC Staff

Watford FC Women can now confirm the players that have either retired or been released following the conclusion of the 2021/22 season.

After more than 100 appearances for the Golden Girls over three separate spells, Emma Beckett will be leaving the club.

The midfielder, who also featured at centre-back, had a penchant for highlight-reel goals in her time with the Hornets, and played a key role in helping the club to earn promotion via upward movement.

Another departing is Rosie Kmita, with the left-sided player retiring from football in order to focus on other ventures.

Since joining in 2020, Rosie was a regular presence in the Watford side, going on to make 30 appearances and scoring five times, including a hat-trick against MK Dons.

Anaisa Harney will be moving on after being with the club for several seasons. Like with Emma and Rosie, she played her part in Watford’s return to the second tier.

The striker netted six times for the Hornets, including the dramatic equaliser against Crystal Palace back in October.

Also leaving is Jenna Legg. Having signed in the summer, the midfielder would go on to make 18 appearances in her time here, which included a goal away at Sunderland in March.

Another regular in the squad to depart is Mia Smith. The goalkeeper provided competition to Georgie Ferguson and featured six times in all competitions, and she won the FAWC Save of the Season for her stop at home to the Lady Black Cats.

Having progressed from the Development Team to the First Team, Gemma Biggadike would go on to make her debut with the Golden Girls in 2021/22. She went on loan to MK Dons in January and will now be seeking further opportunities at the senior level.

Rounding off the released list is Shauna Vassell. The full-back joined in January 2022 and made three appearances in the second half of the campaign.

Additionally, Watford can confirm that the following will not have their services retained as a player, however the club is committed to supporting their return to full fitness.

This includes: Chiara Meola, Georgia Clifford, Leanne Bell and Rubie Smith. All of whom have played their part with the Hornets.

Finally, players on dual-sign agreements will be returning to their parent clubs. The likes of Corinne Henson, Morgan Rogers, Teyah Goldie and Juliet Adebowale-Arimoro all made an impact during their time with the Golden Girls.

We would like to thank the departing players for their efforts and wish them all the very best for the future.
