Watford FC Women are delighted to reveal that Damon Lathrope has been appointed as the club’s new Head Coach.

A holder of the UEFA A Licence, Lathrope was previously an Assistant Coach with the Golden Girls towards the end of last season, combining it with his role with the Watford Academy.

After his playing career was cut short due to injury, the former professional footballer has impressed many with his coaching credentials since taking up new challenges within the game.

A big part of that was his work with the Hornets in 2021/22, with Damon’s attention to detail helping to see an upturn in performance levels. With the 32-year-old making an impact during that time, the club have now named Lathrope as Head Coach for the season ahead.

General Manager Amber Wildgust was pleased to have confirmed the appointment and is excited for the upcoming campaign with Lathrope in charge.

“We are pleased to announce Damon as our Head Coach for the forthcoming season,” said Wildgust.

“He brings a lot of experience from his professional career and has a proven ability to create a high-performance environment and culture that maximises the potential of players while producing results.

“We are really looking forward to the new campaign. We hope it is a season full of success where we can build for the future.”
