Trust: Sign Up For 24-Hour Charity Football Marathon

By: Watford FC Staff

Watford FC Community Sports & Education Trust, in partnership with Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association (AMYA) UK and Humanity First, is excited to announce a 24-hour charity football marathon at Watford FC’s training ground on Saturday May 20 and Sunday May 21, 2023.

The 24-hour charity football marathon promises to be an exhilarating and action-packed event, featuring non-stop football matches with teams competing around the clock. Participants can expect a fun-filled day of football, camaraderie and community spirit, all for a great cause.

Funds raised from the event will provide relief for children and go towards supporting the Watford FC CSE Trust’s mental health and wellbeing primary school programme, which delivers crucial mental health support to young students in Hertfordshire and Harrow. Additionally, the funds will support Humanity First’s clean water solutions for villages in Africa, providing access to clean and safe drinking water, a basic human right that is often taken for granted.

Community Director at Watford FC CSE Trust, Rob Smith, said: “We look forward to welcoming a range of players to the Hornets’ home away from matchdays. It promises to be a great community event.

“We’re thankful to AMYA and Humanity First for their collaboration on this project, and thanks in advance to those who are able to take part and support our cause.”

Luqman Bajwa, the National Vice President of the AMYA and the lead organiser of the “Mercy 4 Mankind” charity events, said: “We are grateful for the opportunity to collaborate with Watford FC CSE Trust and Humanity First for this wonderful event. As a youth organisation committed to serving humanity, we are excited to contribute to the charitable efforts and make a positive difference in communities.”

The 24-hour charity football marathon is open to participants of all ages and skill levels, and everyone is encouraged to come and join in the fun while supporting these worthy causes. There will be opportunities for corporate sponsorship and donations to further support the fundraising efforts.

“We are proud to be part of this meaningful initiative that brings together sports, charity and community,” said a representative from Humanity First. “We look forward to a successful event and making a real impact through the funds raised for our clean water solutions in Africa.”
