Introducing: ‘Match Ballot’ – Your Return To The Vic

By: Watford FC Staff

When safety guidelines allow the return of supporters to Vicarage Road Stadium, it’s certain that this will initially be on a reduced-capacity basis.

A ‘Match Ballot’ will allocate places for those who come to support us here most regularly; prioritising STH (Season Ticket Holders) and also including MTB (Match Ticket Buyers) whenever possible.

Why a ballot?

Based on the thousands of responses received from the recent ‘Returning To The Vic’ survey, we’re reasonably sure we’ll have more supporters wishing to attend Vicarage Road to watch matches than we’ll be able to accommodate – certainly at the start of this process, at least, when capacity will be at its greatest point of constraint.

Therefore we’ve been working on a system which provides fair and equitable access, albeit weighted strongly towards Season Ticket Holders, and will seek to give everyone who wishes to attend a chance to do within the first few couple of games of supporters being allowed into stadiums once again.

How will it work?

Due to the potential for change in guidelines from match to match, supporters will be asked before each game to indicate if they – accompanied by those in their social bubble – would wish to attend a forthcoming match. Based on the current guidelines, the social bubble is defined as up to six people from up to two households.

Supporters will be allocated seats across the stadium. No seat selection guarantees are possible. Match prices will be £20 for STH adults and £25 for MTB adults (concession prices lower in both cases). Reservations will be created by the club’s Ticket Office Team, which supporters will then access to purchase their tickets.

Tickets will be delivered to the ticketing section of the club’s free-to-use mobile app – download on iOS HERE or on Android HERE. Due to Covid measures and in the interests of ticketing security, paper tickets will only be issued in exceptional circumstances and at the discretion of staff.

It is therefore very important for supporters with a smartphone yet to download the mobile app please do so ahead of their visit. Additionally, the app will also be the place to watch the club’s new ‘Hive Live’ video streaming and audio streaming coverage of matches.

If you have a disability, or restrictions to your mobility, you will be able to advise us of your requirements when applying for ballot places, so we can do our best to offer you an accessible seat.

Who will be eligible to enter?

Supporters who have attended matches at The Vic most regularly. There will be two Ballot Groups: Season Ticket Holders 2019/20 and Match Ticket Buyers.

Eligibility will be based upon 2019/20 Season Ticket Holder status and Match Ticket Buyer Home Grouping. Refundable deposits in respect of 2020/21 Season Ticket renewals are not relevant to this ‘Match Ballot’ process.

To help us plan for likely groupings, we’d like your help, please, to learn more about your intentions for returning when possible.

All 2019/20 Season Ticket Holders, as well as those in home ticket access groups A and B, have been contacted with further information and actions to be taken in relation to the ballot process.
