Team News: Arsenal

Étienne Capoue will train tomorrow and the club will then make a decision on his fitness ahead of Sunday’s match against Arsenal, according to Hayden Mullins.

The midfielder was unavailable for the matches against West Ham and Manchester City with a knock, having featured in every other Premier League match for Watford since November.

"Étienne is going to train tomorrow,” said Mullins. “Étienne’s been having treatment so we’re going to have a look and see if he’s available tomorrow for us to train and have a look at him.”

If the 32-year-old is unavailable for the trip to the Emirates, Mullins remains confident the team has enough strength in depth that other players are capable of stepping up.

“Étienne is an important member of the squad and we know that. He’s got an injury at the moment, but we’ve also got different players who have different qualities and they’ve stepped in and done well,” said the Interim Head Coach.

“If we get him back fit for the game and if he trains tomorrow, then it will be a boost to the squad. If not, we’ve got other players who are more than capable.”

There are no new injury concerns in the squad according to Mullins, who is focused on ensuring everyone knows what they have to do to give the club the best chance of retaining its Premier League status on Sunday afternoon.

“We’re focused on our jobs really, I think the main thing I want to see on Sunday is all the players know their roles, understand their roles and go out and try to get a positive result for the football club,” said Mullins.

“We know there’s only one game left, so from my point of view I know it’s important that I try to get as much as I can sorted out right for the team.”
