Sustainability: Hornets Partner With Lowr On New Fan Platform

Watford FC supporters have the unique opportunity to play a key role in the club’s sustainability commitment thanks to a new partnership with fan sustainability platform Lowr.

Lowr has worked closely with the Hornets to develop the world’s first sustainability platform designed to engage fans and log how they get to and from matches.

With supporter travel accounting for the biggest part of the club’s carbon emissions, a new sustainability section will be integrated within the official Watford FC app.

The free-to-use platform will provide the club with a greater understanding of its carbon footprint, while helping supporters make environmentally friendly decisions when it comes to travelling to support the Hornets.

Tarang Panchal, Watford FC’s Head of Procurement & Sustainability, said: “We’re delighted to be working with Lowr on this innovative new platform, which we believe will play a crucial part in the club’s efforts to reduce its carbon footprint and tackle climate change.”

Chloe Sweden, Lowr Founder & CEO – who hails from the Watford area – said: “We developed Lowr for clubs to help lower their carbon footprints and for their fans who want to help the team they love.

“Global sports are hiding the dirty little secret that it’s actually supporters that contribute over 60 per cent of emissions. With Watford’s commitment to net zero, it’s the perfect time to launch Lowr and bring the fans along that sustainability journey. We couldn’t be prouder of the partnership.”

Keep an eye on club channels over the coming days for more details on the platform, with money-can’t-buy prizes up for grabs each month for supporters using the app.

Earlier this week, Watford FC further underlined its commitment to sustainability by signing up to the UN Sports for Climate Action Framework, pledging to become net zero by 2040. Click HERE for details.
