Following last weekend’s disappointing defeat against Wolverhampton Wanderers the countdown is firmly on to Watford’s Premier League return, with Norwich City providing the next test to Xisco Muñoz’s charges.
As the Hornets prepare to face the Canaries at Carrow Road on Saturday (September 18), we take a look at the key statistics between the two sides.
Recent Success
Norwich have lost each of their last four league meetings with Watford, with both Championship clashes last season finishing 1-0 to the Hornets.
Ismaïla Sarr and Dan Gosling scored Watford’s goals against Norwich during 2020/21, with the latter all but securing promotion back to the Premier League with his April winner on the road.
Strength On The Road
Watford have won six of their last nine away league games against Norwich (L3) - as many as they had in their previous 40 visits to Norfolk (W6 D10 L24).
Arguably the most significant away win came against Norwich in a 3-2 victory in the 2010/11 season when Danny Graham scored twice, and Troy Deeney made his debut for the club. John Eustace was the other goalscorer that day.

Quelling The Threat
In his English league career, Norwich striker Teemu Pukki has faced Watford more often without finding the net than any other side (6 shots, 4 games, 0 goals).
The Finnish striker has ended on the losing side in each of those four appearances, rarely enjoying much luck against the Golden Boys.
Steely Defence
Norwich have failed to score in four of their last six league games against Watford, having found the back of the net in each of their previous 22 meetings with the Hornets beforehand.
This record stretches back to 2015 when Watford beat Norwich 2-0 in the Premier League, with goals coming from Deeney and Odion Ighalo.
Frustration For Farke
The Canaries’ boss, Daniel Farke, has lost all of his four league meetings with Watford.
It’s the German’s worst loss rate (100%) against a single opponent in English league football.
