The Hornets travel to Middlesbrough this Saturday (January 28, 3pm KO), as they look to continue their unbeaten streak in the Sky Bet Championship.

Ahead of the encounter at the Riverside Stadium, and after a memorable 2-1 victory on the 100-year anniversary of Watford’s first-ever match at Vicarage Road in the reverse fixture back in August, we look at the statistical context surrounding the match.

Previous Meetings

Three of the last four Football League meetings between Middlesbrough and Watford in the North-East have ended in a draw – as many as the first 15 such encounters.

Middlesbrough are winless in their last 10 league games against Watford, since a 2-1 away victory back in October 2012.

Watford haven’t lost any of their last five away league matches against Middlesbrough, since losing 1-0 back in November 2011.

The Hornets’ 10-game unbeaten run against Middlesbrough in the Football League is currently their joint-longest streak against an opponent currently in the EFL.

Recent Form

Only Burnley have won more points from losing positions in the Championship this season than Middlesbrough.

The Golden Boys have lost just one of their last six away games in the Championship, having won just one of their previous 12 away league games across the top-flight and second-tier.

Boro have won each of their last three league games at the Riverside Stadium, as many as in their first 10 of the 2022/23 campaign.

Fifty-five per cent of Watford’s goals in the Championship this season have come after half-time, including each of their last seven in the competition since João Pedro’s 15th-minute penalty against Reading in November.
