Stats Buzz: Everton In Numbers

By: Watford FC Staff

Watford take on Everton at Vicarage Road this evening (May 11, 7.45pm KO) in the top-flight, as Roy Hodgson faces Frank Lampard in the dugouts.

Ahead of the mid-week encounter under the lights, we take a look at some of the stats, facts and figures that surround the fixture.

Previous Meetings

Watford won the reverse fixture against Everton 5-2 in October, and are looking to pick up consecutive league victories against the Toffees for the very first time.

Everton have lost three of their last four Premier League away games against Watford, though they did win 3-2 on their last visit to Vicarage Road in February 2020.

The Hornets have scored five goals against Everton in the Premier League this season – only versus three sides have they netted six or more goals in a single Premier League campaign (8 v Cardiff in 2018/19, 6 v Chelsea in 2017/18 and 6 v Aston Villa in 2015/16).

Key Players

Watford striker Joshua King has scored more Premier League goals against Everton than he has versus any other side in the competition (8), including a hat-trick at Goodison Park in the reverse fixture.

If fit to play, King could become the second Watford player to net four or more goals against an opponent within a single Premier League campaign, after Gerard Deulofeu against Cardiff City in 2018/19.

The Golden Boys have found the back of the net in 11 of their 13 home league matches against Everton, only failing to score in February 2007 (0-3) and April 1986 (0-2).

Against no side has Dele Alli scored more Premier League goals than he has versus Watford, netting five times in 10 appearances.

The Dugouts

Everton boss Lampard has won all three of his Premier League meetings with Hodgson – it’s his best win-rate as a manager in the top-flight.

Meanwhile, Hodgson has faced Everton 20 times in his career in the top-flight, winning four times and drawing five.

The Watford boss has managed 379 matches in the Premier League, and Lampard has taken charge of 71 fixtures.

Opposition Stat Attack

Former Hornet Richarlison is the Toffees’ top goalscorer with eight goals, and has the most shots on target with 19.

Alongside the Brazilian, Abdoulaye Doucouré has the most assists for Everton with four.

Defensively, Michael Keane leads the way for clearances (120), blocks (26) and interceptions (57) within the Everton ranks.
