Claudio Ranieri has enjoyed an illustrious coaching career in which he has taken charge of high-profile teams such as Juventus, Inter Milan, Chelsea and Leicester City.

Following the appointment of the Italian as Watford’s new Head Coach, this article takes an in-depth look at the key statistics that surround his career in football.

Tremendous Trophies

Ranieri has won eight trophies throughout his managerial career so far, including the 2004/05 UEFA Super Cup with Valencia. He has also won the Italian Cup and Italian Super Cup, both with Fiorentina.

Most famously in the 2015/16 Premier League season Ranieri inspired Leicester City to the title against the 5000/1 odds placed on the Foxes at the start of the season.

All-Time Records

The Italian Head Coach has managed over 1200 matches, winning 561 games and earning over 2000 points.

The most points he has won in a single season is 81 at Leicester City, during their Premier League winning 2015/16 season.

His highest points-per-match record stands at 2.06 which was earned during his time at Monaco, where he managed for 86 games.

Dazzling Debutants

Ranieri has also introduced some talented players into the footballing world, giving hundreds their debut.

The Italian handed Robert Huth his maiden Premier League appearance at just 17 years, eight months and 23 days old, the youngest debutant he has picked in England.

In the Premier League Ben Chilwell, Wilfred Ndidi and N’Golo Kante all received their first appearances at Ranieri’s Leicester.

Meanwhile Ranieri has also handed debuts to 2006 World Cup winning captain Fabio Cannavaro, 2020 European Championship winner Ciro Immobile, Premier League winner and current Liverpool player Fabinho and La Liga winner and current Atletico Madrid star Yannick Carrasco.

Most Played Players

Former Watford Head Coach Gianfranco Zola tops this list having played 210 times under Ranieri’s stewardship throughout two spells with the new Watford Head Coach.

Ranieri first managed the Italian centre forward at Napoli and then a few years later at Chelsea.

In a close second, Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink has played 201 times under Ranieri, scoring 111 goals.

The list of talent Ranieri has coached is incredible. Just some of the players that have played over 50 games for him include Frank Lampard, Gabriel Batistuta, Rui Costa, Marcel Desailly, Pavel Nedved, Daniele De Rossi, Giorgio Chiellini, Jamie Vardy, Gianluigi Buffon, Riyad Mahrez, David Trézéguet and Francesco Totti.

Transfer Merry-Go-Round

A huge presence in the transfer market, Ranieri has purchased over 450 players in his coaching career, spending an estimated €775m.

The Head Coach's biggest purchase was James Rodríguez from Porto to Monaco in 2013, joining for a reported £40m, with Radamel Falcao in a close second place.

He also signed former Watford Head Coach Slaviša Jokanović for Chelsea in October 2000, who went onto make over 50 appearances under Ranieri.
