Watford welcome Burnley to Hertfordshire on Saturday (April 30, 3pm KO) for a crucial match at the bottom of the Premier League table, as Mike Jackson’s Clarets and Roy Hodgson’s Hornets go head-to-head.

Before this weekend’s encounter at Vicarage Road, we take a look at some of the stats, facts and figures that surround the fixture.

Previous Meetings

This is both Watford and Burnley’s 300th Premier League match. It’s just the second time two sides are meeting in their 300th game in the competition, after Everton and Tottenham Hotspur in January 2000.

This is Watford’s 150th home Premier League match at Vicarage Road. After winning their first Premier League home game against Burnley in February 2017, the Hornets are winless in their last three against the Clarets at The Vic (D1 L2).

Burnley have won five of their nine Premier League games against Watford.

The Dugouts

Burnley are unbeaten in their three Premier League games under Jackson so far (W2 D1). The last manager to remain unbeaten in their first four league games in charge of the Clarets was Owen Coyle in 2007, while no manager has ever stayed unbeaten in their first four top-flight games with Burnley.

This will be the first time Sean Dyche won’t be in charge of Burnley for a league match against Watford since March 2012, when Eddie Howe was in charge of the Clarets and Dyche was managing the Hornets in a 3-2 victory for the latter in the Championship.

Hodgson won five of his first six Premier League games against Burnley (D1).

Key Players

Joshua King scored in three of his first four Premier League matches against the Clarets, all for Bournemouth.

Burnley’s Ashley Barnes has two goals in six Premier League appearances against Watford, with both of his strikes coming at Vicarage Road and both from the penalty spot, in a 2-1 defeat in February 2017 and a 3-0 win in November 2019.

Moussa Sissoko has been involved in four goals in 10 Premier League appearances against Burnley (2 goals, 2 assists), with his two goals coming for different clubs: Newcastle in January 2015, and Spurs in December 2019.

Opposition Stat Attack

Dwight McNeil has had more shots (42) and more shots on target (12) without scoring than any other player in the Premier League this season.

The winger also leads the way for crosses attempted (171), dribbles attempted (126) and tackles attempted (73).

Maxwel Cornet is the Clarets' top goalscorer with seven strikes. The Ivorian is also top for shots on target this season for Burnley (17).

The trio of Josh Brownhill, Wout Weghorst and Ashley Westwood top the rankings for assists with three each.
