Reaction: Porteous On Hull Stalemate

By: Watford FC Staff

Ryan Porteous gave his reaction after the Hornets played out a goalless draw with Hull City in the Sky Bet Championship.

Speaking to young supporter Carmelo, 15, on Junior Hornets Matchday, read what the Scottish centre-back had to say below…

I think it was a pretty slow start. It was a difficult match, as was to be expected against a team that has really shown up this year, and we’re just lacking that bit in the final third.

It took a great performance by Daniel Bachmann to pull us out of it a little bit but it was another clean sheet, which is probably about the only positive we can take out of today.

When we keep clean sheets we very rarely put our chances away, and when we put our chances away we don’t keep clean sheets, so we don’t dovetail too well but it’s clearly a work in progress and we’re heading in the right direction.

Bachmann is brilliant. The majority of the games he’s played since I’ve been here, he’s been fantastic. He’s a world-class shot stopper, probably the best I’ve played with when it comes down to saving shots.

It’s been a long time since we’ve won a home game and it’s frustrating but we need to get that monkey off our back. Hopefully the fans can come back again next week [against Sunderland] and do exactly what they did today and we can get the three points.
