Reaction: Koné On First Watford Goal In Norwich Win

By: Watford FC Staff

Ismaël Koné spoke to watfordfc.com after scoring his first Watford goal in Tuesday’s thrilling 3-2 win over Norwich City (November 28).

After the Canaries had scored two early goals, Koné’s powerful curling strike got the Hornets back into the game, only for Mileta Rajović to coolly head in a Jamal Lewis cross two minutes later to level the scores.

Watford completed the comeback with only 13 minutes to go when Yáser Asprilla put the Golden Boys in front for the first time on the night.

Read Koné’s thoughts below…

What can I say [about the goal]? You just work on those; it’s a part of my game where I have to get better, just shooting at the goal and doing lots of hours working with the coach. This makes me happy because it shows that hard work pays off and I’m trying to get more and more.

It took me 10 months to score, so I am happy. I have to get more now as the season goes on, but it is a good feeling for me. I scored for Canada and came back here and scored again, so I am happy.

The first 20 minutes we made it tough for ourselves. I don’t think they outplayed us or were better than us tactically. As a team going forward, we need to make sure that doesn’t happen. We need to stay switched on. After we scored the first goal it was just waves of attack.

It was an exciting game. I think there was a lot of space to play, there was some beautiful link-up play and we had fun and enjoyed it. That is what we want.

If you watch the game in the first few minutes you are thinking ‘damn’, but we were able to come back and win so it means a lot. It means we are working hard and I think it is a very good response. Our confidence is very good going forward.
