Player Update: Louza, Cleverley & Bayo

Midfielder Imrân Louza will start his pre-season programme at some time during the first half of August, with rehab from summer knee surgery progressing as expected.

Playing with pain for the latter part of the 2021/22 campaign, the Morocco international underwent a procedure in early May which aimed to resolve a niggling issue.

The 23-year-old is now working through a structured recovery programme with a view to stepping into a fuller training schedule next month.

Tom Cleverley, meanwhile, reported a soreness in his calf early into pre-season training - thus his absence from practice matches so far.

The experienced midfielder will rejoin the group for full training across the next few days.

Yesterday’s training ground work-out against Bolton Wanderers saw striker Vakoun Bayo leave the field feeling unwell. Positively, he’s had some initial medical checks and is already feeling much improved.
