Ryan Andrews and Araya Dennis have been crowned winners of April’s Player of the Month and Stake Goal of the Month awards respectively.

Following an online vote on the official Watford FC app, Andrews saw off competition from fellow Hornets Megan Chandler, Alli Palisch, João Pedro and Annie Rossiter to secure the player gong, having risen from the Academy ranks to establish himself as a key player.

The 18-year-old defender made his league debut away at Coventry City on Easter Monday (April 10), before adding four more appearances to his tally and earning a standing ovation following an impressive display against Bristol City at Vicarage Road. Andrews gained over 55 per cent of the final vote, with Palisch (14.4%) and Rossiter (13.6%) finishing second and third respectively.

Elsewhere Golden Girl Dennis secured top spot in April’s Stake Goal of the Month competition for her impressive winning strike against Oxford United at The Vic.

In a hugely competitive category, the 17-year-old defender claimed over 55 per cent of the vote for her effort that saw her lob the goalkeeper from outside the box to earn three vital points for Damon Lathrope’s side in the race for the FA WNL Southern Premier Division title.

Behind Dennis’ first goal for the Hornets in the vote, Yáser Asprilla’s maiden Watford strike against Huddersfield finished second (15%), ahead of João Pedro’s opener at Coventry (11.3%) in third.

Ismaïla Sarr’s goal against Cardiff City, Poppy Wilson’s strike against London Bees and Bianca Baptiste’s equaliser against Oxford were the other Stake Goal of the Month nominees.
