Watford FC is pleased to confirm the arrival of defender Ryan Porteous from Scottish Premiership side Hibernian for an undisclosed fee, on a four-and-a-half-year deal.

A product of the youth set-up at Easter Road, highly sought-after Porteous is signing following a decade with Hibs, with the Dalkeith native having previously been snapped up by Aberdeen as a schoolboy.

The now 23-year-old swiftly rose through the academy ranks in the Scottish capital and, in the wake of a formative campaign on loan at Edinburgh City in the fourth tier, went on to make his senior debut in green against Montrose in the League Cup in July 2017.

Since then, Porteous has featured more than 150 times for four-time Scottish champions Hibs, scoring 13 goals, and he played a key role in the team that finished third in the top-flight in the 2020/21 season.

Strong performances at a domestic level saw Porteous earn his senior international bow for Scotland against Ukraine in September 2022, after previously representing his country through the age groups.

Welcome to Watford, Ryan!
