Watford FC is pleased to confirm the permanent signing of former England international midfielder Jake Livermore, following his departure from West Bromwich Albion at the end of last season.

The 33-year-old - who boasts a wealth of Premier League and Sky Bet Championship experience - has penned a one-year deal at Vicarage Road, having trained with the Hornets during pre-season.

Born in Enfield, North London, Livermore began his career at Tottenham Hotspur, and made his professional debut on loan at MK Dons in March 2008 as a second-half substitute against Chester City in League Two.

Similar temporary spells at Crewe Alexandra, Derby County and Peterborough United preceded his senior bow for Spurs, in a 2-1 victory over Stoke City in March 2010, after he had been recalled to the capital from London Road.

Livermore spent 2010/11 in the second-tier - first at Ipswich Town, and later with Leeds United - before establishing himself at White Hart Lane across the following two campaigns, making 56 appearances in all competitions and scoring once against Hearts in UEFA Europa League qualifying.

A productive loan spell at Hull City during 2013/14 yielded three goals in 36 Premier League games, while he made five FA Cup appearances en route to defeat against Arsenal in the Wembley showpiece before sealing a permanent switch to the Tigers during the close season.

After notching a total of nine goals in 144 outings for Hull, Livermore signed for top-flight rivals West Brom in January 2017, who he captained to promotion back to the Premier League in 2019/20 and went on to represent 216 times over six-and-a-half years.

While in the Black Country Livermore worked under current Hornets boss Valérien Ismaël during the 2021/22 campaign, and a move to Hertfordshire sees him link up with the former France youth defender once more.

Internationally, Livermore made his senior debut for the Three Lions in a 2-1 friendly win against Italy in August 2012, while he won the last of his seven caps during a goalless draw against Brazil in November 2017.

Welcome to Watford, Jake!
