Watford FC are pleased to announce the signing of English striker Rhys Healey on a two-year deal.

The 28-year-old moves to Vicarage Road following a three-year spell in France, where he enjoyed a prolific stint with Toulouse, scoring 39 times in 77 appearances.

Having joined Toulouse – then in Ligue 2 – at the start of the 2020/21 season, Healey netted 15 goals in 33 league matches in an impressive first campaign that also included a Player of the Month award, a third-placed finish and a run to the Coupe de France quarter-finals.

He picked up from where he left off in 2021/22, scoring 20 goals in 32 appearances – finishing as the top scorer in Ligue 2 whilst winning Player of the Month twice and earning a spot in the division’s Team of the Year – as Toulouse won the second tier and were promoted.

After three Ligue 1 outings and one goal during the early stages of last season, injury limited Healey’s gametime for the remainder of the campaign however he did find the back of the net upon his return, scoring in the final fixture against Monaco.

Prior to his switch to France, Healey enjoyed two successful spells at MK Dons, the first a half-season loan in which the Manchester-born forward scored nine times as the Dons earned promotion to League One in 2018/19.

Joining MK Dons permanently ahead of the following campaign, Healey was then voted Players’ Player of the Season and topped the club’s goalscoring ranks with 12 in 21 games.

Having begun his career in Wales, Healey swapped Connah’s Quay Nomads for Cardiff City in 2013 aged 18 and picked up crucial experience during his formative years on loan at Colchester United, Dundee, Newport County, Torquay United and eventually MK Dons.

Welcome to Watford, Rhys!
