Watford attacker Shaq Forde has signed his first professional contract with the Hornets.

Forde enjoyed a breakout season in 2021/22, starting the campaign in Tom Hart’s Under-18 side and impressing in the Professional Development League before stepping up to the Under-23s.

Pleased to have agreed terms with the club he joined a decade ago, Forde is excited to continue his progress in a Watford shirt and make a positive impression under new Head Coach Rob Edwards.

He said: “It’s a great feeling to sign my first professional contract. Coming through the Academy from Under-8s to making it here, it’s a real honour.”

Following in the footsteps of his father, former Watford striker Fabian Forde, Shaq made his senior debut for Watford in the Emirates FA Cup against Leicester City in January.

The forward continued his development on loan at Kings Langley in 2022, scoring two goals, notching an assist and winning a penalty in just three Southern League Premier Division South matches.

“Making my debut was a special moment. Being on the bench against Brentford and travelling with the squad to Liverpool, there were some great memories from last season,” said Forde.

The coaching staff quickly took note of Forde’s promise and rewarded the 18-year-old with a call-up to the first-team setup, where he will prepare for the 2022/23 Sky Bet Championship season.

“I’m very excited to continue training with the first-team, it’s a step up I’ve liked and embraced. I can’t wait to show my talent and push on,” added Forde.

“My aim is to get into the team, do my best to stay there and help get into the Premier League, getting a few goals and assists on the way.”
