Young Watford striker Tobi Adeyemo has signed his first professional contract with the Hornets.

The 18-year-old, who scored four minutes after coming on for his league debut against Blackpool in January, has agreed a three-year deal with an option for a further 12 months.

It adds to an already successful season for Adeyemo, who made his professional debut in the FA Cup against Reading and has gone on to make five substitute appearances for the first team, four of which in the Sky Bet Championship.

The centre-forward has also been a regular fixture for the Under-21s and Under-18s during 2022/23, scoring against Arsenal in the FA Youth Cup at Vicarage Road.

Born in Hackney, Adeyemo joined the Watford FC Academy in October 2018 and spent time on loan with Hitchin Town in November 2022.

Speaking after finalising the paperwork on his contract, Adeyemo said: “I’m over the moon to sign my first professional contract at such a special club like Watford.

“Coming through here from Under-14s all the way until now; I’ve been here since 2018 and to finally pen my first professional deal means a lot.

“This season has been absolutely terrific for me. To come on for my league debut in front of the amazing home fans and score my first professional goal at the age of 17, becoming Watford’s eighth youngest goalscorer, it’s something I’ll cherish for the rest of my life.

“This is just the beginning. I’m ready to push on now and I’m hungry for more.”
