Watford FC is pleased to announce that Dean Računica and Danilo Butorović have joined the club as part of new Head Coach Slaven Bilić’s backroom staff.

The Croatian duo join their compatriot having both served as assistants for Bilić in the 54-year-old’s previous roles, most recently in China with Beijing Guoan.

Former creative midfielder Računica turned out for the likes of Hajduk Split, Hapoel Tel Aviv and Austria Salzburg [now Red Bull Salzburg] over an 18-year playing career that ended in 2004. Scoring once for Croatia, Računica featured alongside Bilić in a 3-0 win over Mexico in 1992.

Spending six years as assistant manager at Hajduk Split, the now 52-year-old worked with the Croatian FA at youth and senior level while Bilić was in charge of the national team, scouting and analysing opposition nations alongside his coaching role with the Under-21s, assisting Bilić in the 2008 and 2012 European Championships.

He then followed the new Hornets Head Coach to Saudi outfit Al-Ittihad, operating as a scout. Bilić brought Računica to England upon his arrival at West Bromwich Albion in 2019, where they won promotion to the Premier League as runners-up in their first season.

Focusing on a coaching career he dreamt of aged just 14, Butorović studied for his coaching badges with the Croatian FA and became heavily involved in data analysis, becoming one of the youngest coaches in the country when he took over at the helm of HNK Orijent 1919 in 2016.

Guiding Orijent from the fourth tier to the top of the second division, Bilić met Butorović through a mutual contact and eventually appointed him as assistant Head Coach at Al-Ittihad, bringing the now 38-year-old with him to each of his clubs since.

Welcome Dean and Danilo!
