News: Hornets Nominated For Lockdown Heroes Award

By: Watford FC Staff

The Hornets are delighted to be nominated in the Lockdown Heroes category of the upcoming Football Supporters’ Association Awards, in recognition of the support provided to our neighbours at Watford General Hospital and the Hornets at Home scheme during the Covid-19 pandemic.

To honour those who have gone the extra mile in helping their fellow supporters and communities this year, the FSA created the category to recognise the fans, players and clubs who’ve made a real difference during a difficult year.

“It’s great to receive this nomination, which reflects well on the club staff and volunteers who helped us deliver these services to our local community and supporters,” said Dave Messenger, the club’s Supporter Liaison & Disability Access Officer. “We are proud of our family club heritage and remain committed to living up to the standards set by Graham Taylor and Sir Elton John, both now and in the future.”

The winners in the Lockdown Heroes category will be decided by an FSA panel and announced throughout the day on Friday March 5 via their Twitter and Instagram channels.

There’s still space, however, for supporters to vote in other categories for their favourite pundits, podcasts, commentators and writers. Voting remains open until 9am on Monday February 22 and the full list of categories and shortlisted nominees can be found HERE.
