Watford FC is pleased to announce that Paolo Benetti, Carlo Cornacchia and Carlo Spignoli will join Head Coach Claudio Ranieri as new backroom staff members.

Benetti (pictured) and Cornacchia join the Hornets as Assistant Coaches, while Spignoli arrives as Fitness Coach.

The three new members of Watford’s backroom team have more than 50 years of experience between them, ranging from clubs around the world’s top football leagues.

Benetti has been the long-time assistant to Ranieri since 2007, when their paths first crossed at Juventus.

Since then, he has been involved in the backroom set-ups at Roma, Inter Milan, Monaco, the Greece national team, Leicester City, FC Nantes, Fulham and Sampdoria.

Cornacchia spent 12 years coaching in America before joining Ranieri’s backroom staff as Assistant Coach at FC Nantes in France’s Ligue 1, in 2017.

He then followed Benetti and Ranieri to Fulham, Roma and Sampdoria.

Spignoli began his career in Italy’s football pyramid as a Strength & Conditioning Coach at teams including Cagliari, Bologna and Sassuolo.

Following time in his native country, Spignoli moved to Monaco in 2012, spending seven years in the principality. During this time, Monaco won France's Ligue 1 and got to a Champions League semi-final.
