Muñoz: “Everyone Worked Very Hard”

Xisco Muñoz was impressed with the mentality of his squad over the past week as they won three pre-season games at the London Colney training ground.

Having beaten Millwall 3-2 on Wednesday, Muñoz watched on as his side played two 60-minute friendlies against Hayden Mullins’ Colchester United on Saturday, winning 2-1 and 2-0.

“Everyone worked very hard. I’m very happy with the players because we’ve had high intensity for three weeks,” said the Head Coach. “It’s always important to try and win these games. The most important thing is that we continue with the same attitude because it is perfect.”

An Ismaïla Sarr penalty and a Dapo Mebude strike won the first game for the Hornets against Colchester, with Cucho Hernández and Dan Gosling getting the goals in the second.

“We had very good actions, the players showed talent, played very well and they understand what we want,” Muñoz continued. “Congrats to the guys, in the three weeks they’ve worked very hard and they had a strong mentality.”

A number of players from the Academy played a part in this week’s fixtures, and Muñoz is pleased he can look to the young talent emerging through the Under-18 and Under-23 squads.

“The players coming and working with us [from the Academy] are ready,” he said. “This is very comforting for a manager because if sometimes you need some players, every time they give you their best and they showed it today in the game.”
