Opposition

Leicester City are top of their Europa League group and impressing against the likes of Napoli and Spartak Moscow in the competition, but have endured a mixed period in the league thus far in 2021/22. The Foxes are winless in three in the Premier League, but sit comfortably in 12th, two points ahead of the Hornets. Brendan Rodgers' side are reigning FA Cup winners and beat Manchester City in this year's Community Shield, and will be hoping to achieve similar success this season.

Key Stats

  • Ben Foster is one clean sheet away from 50 for Watford, having celebrated 500 career league appearances earlier this term.
  • An away win this weekend would see Watford up to three victories on the road already this season, beating their last Premier League total.
  • Emmanuel Dennis is looking to become only the sixth player in Premier League history to reach both five goals and assists in 12 or fewer games (currently four goals, five assists).

Team News

Watford duo Ismaïla Sarr and Nicolas Nkoulou will both miss Sunday’s trip to Leicester City with injuries picked up during the 4-1 win over Manchester United.

The extent of the injuries to Sarr (knee) and Nkoulou (hamstring) is still being evaluated, however neither will play any part at the King Power Stadium.

Christian Kabasele re-joined training towards the end of this week and continues to build up his fitness following a lengthy time out due to a hamstring injury suffered in early October.

Ken Sema, who has been running outside this week as he steps up his recovery from a knee problem, will hope to re-join the squad next week.

Leicester's Ricardo Pereira and Youri Tielemans look likely to miss out on Sunday's match due to injury.

What Are They Saying?

Claudio Ranieri, Watford Head Coach:
“Sarr and Nkoulou are big misses, but I want to remember: I substituted Sarr twice, against Everton and Manchester United, and we scored [four times v Everton and two times v Man Utd].

“They are very important players for us but we have some players on the bench who are ready to play, and I’m sure they will give their maximum for the team.

“I love our philosophy and we must continue it. Sometimes you can press higher or in the middle third, but it’s important that you want to do something during the whole match, from the start to the end.”

Brendan Rodgers, Leicester City Head Coach:
“[Ranieri] has had some fantastic results, away at Everton, Manchester United in the last game. There are some really good players and he'll be hoping to keep them in the league.

“His teams are always organised, he's incredibly experienced.”
