Masina: “We Have To Keep Pushing”

Adam Masina expressed his and the squad’s disappointment following defeat to Southampton, but insisted Watford are looking ahead to next week’s match at Arsenal as an opportunity to set things right.

The Hornets were defeated 1-0 at Vicarage Road after Ché Adams’ first-half strike made the difference.

“We are not happy about the result but we have to keep pushing because it is a really long season,” said Masina.

“We had a big opportunity at the end, it was a tough game, but we have to keep doing what we are doing in training and keep working.”

Claudio Ranieri has been in the Watford dugout for three games now, and the left-back values each training session as an opportunity to learn more from the Head Coach.

Masina’s relationship with fellow left-back Danny Rose is also a strong one, as they push each other to improve on the training pitch.

He added: “Training is massive for us because every day we learn something more about Ranieri.

“Danny is a really good guy, we try to compete in a good way, I really respect him and admire him. We have the same competition in front and we need to keep doing this.”

Arsenal are next up for the Golden Boys at the Emirates Stadium, and while Masina doesn’t underestimate the Gunners’ quality, he hopes the away supporters can bring an extra push to help secure the three points.

“It’s going to be a tough game because they are doing very well at the moment,” he said. “They have a lot of quality so we have to go there with our spirit, our crowd behind us because we need them and I hope they stay with us until the end.”
