Louza: “It Was A Team Effort”

Imrân Louza feels their deserved draw with Manchester United will bring “more confidence” for Watford in the coming weeks.

The Moroccan international produced a strong performance in front of the Hornets’ backline and played the full 90 minutes at Old Trafford as Roy Hodgson’s side kept a third clean sheet in six games.

Despite sustained pressure from the hosts in the dying stages of the game, the Golden Boys stood firm, leaving Louza delighted to pick up a point.

“It’s good, I’m very happy about the game today,” said Louza, 22. “Not every club can come here and get points because it’s a very difficult place to go. This result will get us into the new week with more confidence for the next game [against Arsenal].

“Everyone defended together and did really well, it was a team effort. It’s been good because we avoided conceding a goal that could have messed everything up, and made the performance meaningless. We’re very happy about this.”

Louza was pleased to see the team recover from defeat to Crystal Palace in midweek and display defensive solidity.

“It’s not easy to prepare a game like this after the result we got against Crystal Palace, but we came here to leave the match behind and did well,” continued the midfielder. “We got a clean sheet and we move onto next week with confidence.”

Travelling up from the south in full voice, thousands of supporters packed the away end to back the team, and Louza is thankful for their loyal following during a difficult period in the season.

He said: “It’s always good, they’re always great whether we play at home or away. Today they have been amazing and gave us an extra bit to perform on the pitch.

“I want to send a message to them to say we will be doing our best and trying however we can until the end.”
