Two Watford youngsters found the target at the weekend for their respective loan clubs, contributing to valuable victories.

Joseph Hungbo was elated to score his first home goal for Ross County, helping the Staggies to a 3-1 win over St Johnstone.

The Highlands club were battling relegation at the start of the season, but thanks to an impressive run of form have climbed out of the bottom two to 10th in the Scottish Premiership.

Hungbo has been a creative spark from the wing but hadn’t yet found the target in front of his own supporters. He was pleased to repay the fans for their committed support, in an interview with Ross County’s YouTube channel.

“It feels great,” said the 22-year-old. “I haven’t scored here before so it feels amazing, especially in front of the fans, I feel like I owe it to them. Over the season they’ve been behind us from the start until now but the most important thing is the three points.”

Reflecting on the success of the loan so far, Hungbo showed his delight at playing regular football in the Scottish top-flight, and learning from new experiences.

“It’s been immense, it’s definitely helped me on and off the pitch,” Hungbo continued. “Gaining so much experience from these types of situations, playing in front of crowds, the manager getting on my case, it feels like everything is clicking so I’ve just got to take everything in, absorb it like a sponge and take it all in and learn.”

Making an immediate impact, striker Shaq Forde scored on his debut for local side Kings Langley in their comfortable win over Wimborne Town.

The Southern Premier Division South side ran out 4-0 winners at the end of the clash, with Forde a lively threat throughout.

Forde, 17, won a penalty within his first three minutes as a Kings player, netting from close range seven minutes later.

The attacker’s shot forced a save late on, creating a rebound for teammate Arel Amu to tap home.

Forde is with Kings Langley on loan until March 20.

Also in the home line-up, young goalkeeper Alfie Marriott kept a clean sheet at the other end.
