Internationals: November Call-Ups Confirmed

While the Sky Bet Championship is put on ice for a fortnight, eight Hornets will be hoping for success on the international stage after receiving call-ups to represent their countries.

We begin with Ryan Porteous, who has once again linked up with Scotland having helped Steve Clarke’s side secure qualification for Euro 2024 last month. The centre-half will hope to conclude the team’s Group A campaign strongly, with top spot still up for grabs.

Matches against Georgia in Tbilisi (November 16, 5pm KO GMT) and Norway at Hampden Park (November 19, 7.45pm KO GMT) await the 24-year-old. The former will be an all-Watford affair as Porteous’ Scotland take on Giorgi Chakvetadze’s Georgia, with the Golden Boys’ dynamic midfielder looking to improve his nation’s fourth-place standing.

After playing the Scots, Chakvetadze - who currently has 20 caps - will wind up Georgia’s Euro 2024 qualification campaign against Spain (November 19, 7.45pm KO GMT) at the José Zorrilla Stadium in Valladolid.

Ken Sema will re-join his Swedish compatriots after missing out last month due to an injury he sustained in September’s international fixtures. The in-form winger will be available to play against Azerbaijan (November 16, 5pm KO GMT) and Estonia (November 19, 5pm KO GMT) during the final round of Euro qualifiers.

Also in European Championship qualifying action is Jamal Lewis, as Northern Ireland play out their final competitive matches against Finland (November 17, 5pm KO GMT) and Denmark (November 20, 7.45pm KO GMT), having been mathematically ruled out from qualifying for the tournament.

Away from Europe, Yáser Asprilla has earned a call-up to Colombia’s national team as they continue their World Cup qualification campaign with matches against Brazil (November 17, 12am KO GMT) and Paraguay (November 21, 11pm KO GMT). The Watford youngster netted his first goal for Colombia back in September 2022, during a 4-1 victory over Guatemala.

Meanwhile, Edo Kayembe – who opened his account in yellow with a sweet strike during a 5-0 victory over Rotherham United at the weekend – will travel to DR Congo as they begin their World Cup qualification bid for the 2026 tournament. The midfielder will be in line to feature against Mauritania (November 15, 4pm KO GMT) and Sudan (November 19, 4pm KO GMT).

Ismaël Koné’s Canada have a two-legged tie to look forward to, as they go head-to-head with Jamaica in the CONCACAF Nations League quarter-finals. They travel to Kingston for the first leg (November 18, 12am KO GMT), and play host in Toronto (November 22, 12.30am KO GMT) in the deciding leg.

Watford-born Ryan Andrews will join up with England men’s Elite League squad, earning his third successive call-up to the Three Lions’ youth team. The full-back will be in line to face off against Italy (November 16, 7pm KO GMT) and Germany (November 20, 5pm KO GMT).
