Internationals: Hornets Called Up For Euros & Qualifiers

Several Hornets have been called up by their countries for a busy summer of international football, from European Championship action to World Cup qualifiers.

Goalkeeper Daniel Bachmann has been named in Austria’s final 26-man squad for Euro 2020. The Burschen will compete in Group C alongside the Netherlands, Ukraine and North Macedonia, after friendly matches against England (June 2, 8pm BST) and Slovakia (June 6, 4.30pm BST).

Likewise, winger Ken Sema is in Sweden’s 26-man squad for Euro 2020, where the Blågult are placed in Group E with Spain, Poland and Slovakia. A friendly against Armenia (June 5, 7.45pm BST) precedes this.

Chile, meanwhile, have called up Francisco Sierralta for World Cup qualifying matches against Argentina (June 4, 1am BST) and Bolivia (June 9, 2.30am BST). The centre-half will then hope to retain his place for the Copa America tournament in Brazil which follows these games.

Striker Andre Gray, who made his international debut in March, has been selected again by Jamaica for a friendly against Serbia (June 7, 9am BST).

Adam Masina also made his international debut in March for Morocco and the left-back has earned another call up for friendly matches against Ghana (June 8, 8pm BST) and Burkina Faso (June 12, 8pm BST).

Elsewhere, Northern Ireland have once again named centre-half Craig Cathcart in their squad. The Green and White Army face Ukraine in a friendly (June 3, 7pm BST).

Winger Ismaïla Sarr has been called up by Senegal for friendly matches against Zambia (June 5, 8pm BST) and Cape Verde (June 8, 8pm BST).

Nigeria have picked centre-half William Troost-Ekong for two friendlies with Cameroon (June 4, 7.30pm BST and June 8, 5pm BST).

New signing Kwadwo Baah has also earned his first England Under-19 call-up for a training camp. The striker previously represented the Young Lions at Under-18 level.

Under-23s midfielder Dan Phillips has been called up by Trinidad & Tobago for World Cup qualifiers against The Bahamas (June 5) and St Kitts & Nevis (June 8), followed by the potential of play-off games should the nation win their group.

Bosun Lawal, the Academy Player of the Season who had been called up by the Republic of Ireland Under-19s, has now been selected by the nation’s Under-21 side for the first time, with games scheduled against Australia (June 2) and Denmark (June 5).
