Injury Update: Latest From The Treatment Room

By: Watford FC Staff

Seven senior Hornets’ professionals are sidelined with injury, the continuing relentless schedule contributing to some of the absences.

Troy Deeney will soon have a follow-up scan on his Achilles injury, to assess the extent of the recovery and plan next steps. The club captain was injured in a collision away at Coventry City early last month.

Central midfielders Tom Cleverley (click HERE for a specific update), Tom Dele-Bashiru – who is now continuing his ACL injury rehab at the training ground – and Dan Gosling (hamstring) are all unavailable to Head Coach Xisco Muñoz, the latter targeting a return to action next weekend at Cardiff.

Younger midfield option Dan Phillips is working hard on his rehab programme after a hamstring injury. He is hoping to return to fitness ahead of reporting for duty with the Trinidad & Tobago national team later this month.

Defender Christian Kabasele is making good progress as he returns from bruising on the knee. He’s now outside running and will be looking to step up his training involvement soon.

Ben Foster’s broken finger, sustained in early December, continues to heal and he’s now started light training.

Achraf Lazaar is another to have suffered with a minor hamstring issue, however he’ll be back in training next week ahead of the Cardiff City game.

Meanwhile, fellow full-back Marc Navarro is back in full training after a spell out due to a hamstring issue.

Teenage centre-back George Langston picked up an injury during his first few appearances on loan at National League Wealdstone. He’s looking forward to teaming up with the non-leaguers once he’s back to full fitness.
