FPL Watch: Who’s Available For Gameweek 8?

By: Watford FC Staff

New Watford Head Coach Claudio Ranieri has a wealth of options to choose from for his side to play Liverpool, with many FPL Managers eagerly awaiting how the Italian lines up his team in Saturday’s early kick-off.

While it may be difficult to predict who is a definite starter in his Hornets squad, there are some names to look out for ahead of the match that may bring a strong points return this gameweek.

Imrân Louza (£5.3m) has been in fine form over the international break, scoring and assisting in his first appearances for Morocco. He’ll be itching to make a good impression under his new Head Coach, and potentially start in the Premier League for the first time at home. The midfielder has a good goalscoring record considering his position, netting seven times last term for FC Nantes in Ligue 1. He is also skilled from 12 yards, taking penalties for his former club and now for his country.

Adam Masina (£4.3m) also grabbed an assist for Morocco last week, and the left-back will want to continue his attacking contributions while maintaining his defensive solidity.

William Troost-Ekong (£4.5m) is another defender who assisted on international duty, playing in striker Victor Osimhen in Nigeria’s win over the Central African Republic. With Troost-Ekong also proving to be an aerial threat last season, we could see the centre-back popping up with a goal or assist from time-to-time.

Brazilian forward João Pedro (£5.4m) hasn’t started yet this season following a knee injury suffered in May, but the 20-year-old has come off the bench in back-to-back games and could make the starting XI against Liverpool. João Pedro scored nine times last season in the Championship, playing as a striker and on the wing.

In injury news, Peter Etebo won’t be available having suffered a quad tear, but he did undergo successful surgery.

Defensive duo Christian Kabasele and Francisco Sierralta will miss the upcoming match against the Reds, but are making progress with their rehabilitation, with Sierralta set to return to light training next week.
