FPL Watch: New Arrivals and Bargain Buys

By: Watford FC Staff

With Gameweek 4 fast approaching, here are some tips on a few Watford names who could make their way into your Fantasy Premier League team...

João Pedro: £5.4m

João Pedro’s return to full fitness bolsters Watford’s forward resources in the Premier League, and could provide FPL managers with another option at the top end of the field.

The Brazilian youngster enjoyed a breakout season last term in the Championship, scoring nine goals and assisting three times.

João Pedro, who played on the left and up front during the promotion-winning campaign, is dangerous inside the box and also from distance, as demonstrated against Derby County in 2020/21.

Head Coach Xisco Muñoz has been vocal in his praise for the forward, noting his intelligence off the ball as a quality he can bring to the squad.

“João is very important for me because he is a flexible player," he explained.

“He understands the space behind the lines, he can play as a winger or inside, and he is very talented. It’s those players who sometimes can change a game from nothing. This is what we have and what we want.”

Priced at just £5.4m, João Pedro is a bargain option who has the potential to score high. With a few high-profile arrivals in the Premier League limiting the budget, the 19-year-old could be a great third striker in your team.

Ozan Tufan: £5.0m

Ozan Tufan could also be in line to make his first appearance of the season this weekend. The Turkish midfielder arrived for training on Wednesday for the first time since joining from Fenerbahçe last month, and will be assessed ahead of Saturday’s match.

Tufan can play both in a holding and attacking midfield role, and has an impressive goals record from the middle of the park.

The 26-year-old netted six goals and notched ten assists in the Turkish Süper Lig in 2020/21, scoring the same number the season prior.

Like João Pedro, Tufan isn’t afraid to shoot, be it inside or outside the box.

Ismaïla Sarr: £6.0m | 13pts

Ismaïla Sarr scored his first goal of the season in Gameweek 1 against Aston Villa, and although he hasn’t added to his tally just yet, signs are promising for the Senegal winger.

He scored on international duty earlier this week against Congo, and at £6.0m and owned by less than five per cent of managers, he could prove to be a clever pick over the next few gameweeks.

Team News

Goalkeeper Ben Foster missed the trip to Tottenham a fortnight ago and will once again be on the sidelines due to a hamstring injury. He is due to return to training next week.

Defender Kiko Femenía is still working with the medical team to recover full fitness from the groin injury he suffered at the end of last season. He has undergone an intense period of work over the international break however he won't be available this weekend.
