News: Supporter Committee Formed

By: Watford FC Staff

Watford FC is pleased to announce the formation of a new Supporter Committee, establishing a clear and direct means of communication between the club and its supporter base.

The committee – made up of several supporter groups, podcasters, bloggers, fanzine editors, YouTubers and many others – has been created in order to create a more structured and formal consultation process, to continue and expand upon the relationships the club already holds with its diverse range of representative supporter groups.

This structure allows for confidential dialogue between supporters and Watford FC – allowing the club to provide more meaningful and more open answers and explanations on a wide range of subjects.

After each meeting, broad headlines discussed and those attending will be confirmed via the club’s website, while more detailed notes will be circulated confidentially among those part of the Supporter Committee, with feedback welcomed as to future matters for debate.

Meetings will be held at least three times a season, with groups invited on a rotational basis. The Supporter Committee will continue to consult with senior members, with the Chairman & CEO present at least once a season.

The first committee meeting took place on Thursday March 31 where questions were put to Chairman & CEO Scott Duxbury, Finance Director Emiliano Russo, Head of Communications & Media Relations Richard Walker and Supporter Liaison Officer Meg Clarkson during a very frank two-hour discussion.

In attendance were representatives from 14 different supporter voices, who provided both general topics they’d like to be covered on the night as well as having the chance to ask specific questions.

These were (listed in alphabetical order):
• City ‘Orns (regional supporters’ group)
• Do Not Scratch Your Eyes podcast
• EA Horns (regional supporters’ group)
• From The Rookery End podcast
• Golden Pages fanzine
• Jewish Hornets
• Proud Hornets
• Southern Counties Hornets (regional supporters’ group)
• The 1881 Movement
• The Hornets’ Nest (social media)
• Watford Supporters Trust
• WD18: Watford Fan Channel (YouTube)
• Women of Watford FC
• YBR fanzine

Further representatives from alternative groups or members of the wider fanbase are welcomed, in order to represent as broad a cross-section of supporters as possible and ensure a diverse range of attendees.
