Watford FC is delighted to announce the signing of highly sought-after Under-18 winger Aaron Benn.

The 16-year-old former Arsenal youngster, who scored twice and created an assist on his debut for the Gunners' Under-18 side, joins the Hornets' youth ranks ahead of the 2021/22 campaign.

"I'm really pleased to join a big club on the up," said Benn. "It has a great history and they are on a high after being promoted. I feel like I can do well here and I can be one of the main players in the Under-18 side."

Capable of playing on both flanks and through the middle, Benn is an exciting, direct forward.

"I've got pace, skill and like one-v-ones, especially in wide areas," he said. "I want to get a lot of goals and assists for the club and repay the faith the club have shown in me. I can't wait to get started."

Studying locally at Aldenham School, Benn has signed a scholarship with the Hornets, who have beaten off interest from two Premier League sides to secure his signature.

"We are delighted that Aaron has decided to join us after having offers from other Premier League Category One clubs," said Watford's Head of Technical Development, Jimmy Gilligan. "We look forward to working with Aaron and helping him to fulfil his potential."

Academy Director Richard Johnson, who also joined Watford aged 16, spoke highly of Benn's attitude.

"I'm absolutely thrilled that Aaron has decided to join us here at Watford," he said. "I’m very excited to see how Aaron progresses in his time here with us. He is a well grounded young man who has the potential to be very successful."
