Cathcart: “We Have To Move On & Give Our Fans Something Back”

Craig Cathcart says responding in the right way to Saturday’s defeat at Wolves and fighting to repay the club’s supporters are top priorities for the Hornets over the coming week.

The defender, who returned to the line-up at Molineux following a short spell on the sidelines through injury, was reflecting on a 2-0 defeat in the West Midlands.

“It was really disappointing. We didn’t seem to get going and they took their chances, to be fair to them,” said Cathcart.

“We’re disappointed to come away with a loss but we have to pick ourselves up. It’s time to stop talking and show more on the pitch. We have to look forward to next week now.”

After Matt Doherty’s first-half opener, Watford looked the stronger side following the interval but Daryl Janmaat’s unfortunate own goal knocked the stuffing out of Quique Sánchez Flores’ side, who host Sheffield United next weekend in their bid for a first league win of the season.

“That seems to be the way things are going at the minute,” said Cathcart of Wolves’ second goal. “We started the second half well, we were pressing them and it was an unfortunate goal to concede.

“It’s a tough league, every game’s difficult so we need to pick ourselves up and move on as quick as possible and try to prepare as well as we can for the next game.

“We want to focus on the next game now and we want to get a home win next week in front of our fans to give them something back. I’m sure the next win we get will give us a big boost.”
