“We Carried On Looking For More” - Silva

Marco Silva spoke to the media after Tom Cleverley's late winner against the Gunners:

"What I really like is the way we acted after it was 1-1. We didn't go back again, we carried on looking for more from the game.

"We played with a little bit more risk in second half. Our opponent had more chances because of this, but it was what we wanted to do.

"The fans were fantastic again. Everyone is happy. We will enjoy this for now and then look again at our challenge ahead."

8:20 PM

“We Keep Believing All The Time” - Gomes

Heurelho Gomes spoke to the broadcast media after the win over Arsenal:

"It was an amazing result and amazing atmosphere.

"The manager said we were too shy in the first-half. We have to have more confidence about our game.

"The ball went in and I thought 'yes this is our day!'. I was very emotional as well.

"Saves are what I'm here for,  to try to keep us in the game, and I did it today at an important moment in game.

"We keep believing all the time even when the result isn't going for us."

Goal-den Boys

Watford's goalscorers Troy Deeney and Tom Cleverley spoke to BT Sport after the final whistle:

TC: "The manager said to play with a bit more belief in the second half. We did that and I thought we deserved the win."

TD: "Credit to the  manager, he gave us a bit of a roasting at half time. And big credit to Tom, he's been our best player this season and I'm buzzing for him. Fourth means nothing at the moment.

We are building something really good here. It shows we have great belief, fitness too with all the late goals.

"It was a penalty, if it was other way round they would be screaming for it."

TC: "We are building something here, the team spirit, the late goals and we can go to Chelsea next week believing we can get a good result."

Tonight's attendance

A superb effort all-round. Thanks for your support, Watford fans. Think you might have enjoyed that one?!! 😜

7:45 PM

We think the boys enjoyed that one... 😏

7:27 PM - 90 MIN

FULL-TIME: Watford 2-1 Arsenal

Tom Cleverley scored an injury time winner, and substitute Troy Deeney scored a penalty after being on the pitch for just ten minutes, as Watford came from behind to earn a massive win against Arsenal.

Per Mertesacker had put the visitors ahead after 39 minutes, heading in a Granit Xhaka corner in a first-half of few chances.

But the Hornets responded well after the break, putting pressure on the Arsenal backline, with Richarlison the centre of everything positive for the hosts.

And it was the Brazilian, bursting into the box, who was brought down for the penalty. Deeney then stroked the ball down the centre as Petr Cech dived away.

Richarlison, and substitutes Étienne Capoue and André Carrillo all had chances to win it for the Golden Boys, before some last-gasp drama saw the Hornets score another late goal.

A flurry of shots in the area - any of which could have deflected in - eventually saw the ball land at the feet of Cleverley, who thundered home his effort into the roof of the net.

His first goal since returning to the club means the Watford fans can go home with big smiles on their faces.

7:22 PM - 90 MIN

Tom Cleverley is a pinball wizard!

The Golden Boys score right at the death - the ball pings around the Arsenal goal before falling to the feet of Cleverley who lashes it into the roof of the net. Unbelievable scenes!

7:11 PM - 83 MIN

Off the post!

Capoue lines up a shot from the edge of the area, the deflection wrong-foots Cech and it rebounds off the post. Agonisingly close for the Hornets! 🙈

Then from a Holebas cross, Richarlison controls, turns and volleys over the bar from six yards. Hint of a handball there, anyhow.

Mariappa plays a pass beyond Arsenal forward Welbeck.

6:35 PM - 47 MIN

Early promise

Watford go on the attack from Arsenal's restart, with Holebas and Richarlison combining well down the left with a series of one-twos, before the Gunners manage to clear the ball.

Back once again

The second-half begins.

6:19 PM - 45 MIN

HALF-TIME: Watford 0-1 Arsenal

A quiet half ends with the visitors one-nil up thanks to a set-piece.

Per Mertesacker bombed a header in from a corner and sometimes those are the goals that decide tight games.

There had been a few half-chances for each side, with Richarlison, Roberto Pereyra and Andre Gray getting efforts away for the Hornets, but it is Arsenal that lead at the break.

6:15 PM - 45 MIN

Additional Time

THREE minutes added on here at the end of the first-half.

6:12 PM - 43 MIN

Nearly a second for the Gunners

Welbeck cuts it back for Bellerin, who shoots just wide from a good central position in the Hornets' box.

Then Xhaka has a crack from 25 yards, which Gomes is equal to.

6:09 PM - 39 MIN

Visitors lead

Mertesacker powers in a header from an Arsenal corner.

The giant German was first to the ball in the centre of the box and Gomes had no chance as it came towards him at such speed.

Arsenal have a chance blocked at one end by Mariappa's midriff, before the Hornets break away with Doucouré, Pereyra and Gray, but in the end Doucouré can't control an overhit cross from the Argentine.

5:40 PM - 10 MIN

Concern for Richarlison

Richarlison in some discomfort - looks like he landed awkwardly while contesting a high ball with Iwobi.

He's back on though for now, after some treatment from the physio.

“We Do Our Best To Win Against A Good Team” - Silva

Hornets Head Coach Marco Silva spoke to BT Sport's Des Kelly shortly before the game:

"We analyse our form at home. Liverpool, City and Brighton with 60 mins 10 players. This is a new game and we prepare to try to win. We do our best to win against a good team. Our players can enjoy it.

"They have some [injury] problems and we have as well. I am sure that it is harder for us when there are problems than for Arsenal."

5:00 PM

“We Have To Play Our Own Game” - Holebas

Watford's Jose Holebas spoke to BT Sport ahead of kick-off:

"We had a bad day in the City game, six-nil is quite a high scoreline, and everyone was frustrated. But the team came back really focused for the next games and we did well.

"Arsenal is a tough game, a good club but we have to focus on us and play our own game."

4:45 PM

The boys have arrived at the Vic!

4:30 PM

Watford switch to a 3-4-3 formation as Miguel Britos returns to the side as one of three changes.

Roberto Pereyra makes his first start since the opening day of the season, and Andre Gray leads the line in place of Troy Deeney.

Meanwhile Laurent Koscielny has made it into the Arsenal side despite late fitness issues, but there's no place at all for Alexis Sanchez or Aaron Ramsey in Arsene Wenger's matchday squad.

Then And Now

It may have only been for a few months back in 2013/2014, but Hector Bellerín made eight appearances for Watford during his time at the club before being called back by Arsenal towards the end of his deal.

The Spaniard made his debut for the Hornets at home in a 3-0 defeat against Yeovil, and managed to register one assist in his time with the club, coming in a 3-3 draw against Leeds. Despite regularly being a full back for Arsenal, Bellerín was often deployed as a right midfielder by then-manager Giuseppe Sannino.

Arsenal injuries mount up

Arsene Wenger is facing an injury crisis at the moment and could be without seven first team players this evening.

Shkodran Mustafi limped off in midweek for Germany against Azerbaijan, suffering a torn ligament just after the half hour mark, however his defensive partner Laurent Koscielny is nearing a return to fitness and could feature on the bench this weekend.

Mesut Ozil is recovering from a knee injury and is upping his rehabilitation to get back to full fitness, whilst Francis Coquelin (hamstring) and Danny Welbeck (groin) are also back doing some gym work in preparation for the Premier League fixture.

Two players who are definitely out of the game against Watford are Calum Chambers and Santi Cazorla, who are both long-term absentees.

2:30 PM

ICYMI: Marco on Arsenal

"We achieved good things until now and we reacted very well to a bad moment against City. We've worked well until this break and now we play against a very, very good team.

"We think it will be a fantastic atmosphere in the stadium."
