“The fans were excellent” - Chalobah

Nathaniel Chalobah spoke exclusively to after the final whistle, here's just a taste of what he said, you can see the rest on our Match Review page later:

"The fans were excellent today. When I had a chance and missed it I looked over and the fans were still cheering us on, they stuck by the team just like last week.

"We created a few chances and kept getting in good positions. I had a feeling it'd come, it was just a case of when..."

5:45 PM

What a game!

5:30 PM

“We did everything I want” - Silva

Marco Silva spoke to BBC Match of the Day after securing his first win as Watford's Head Coach:

"Firstly it was a very, very good game. Two teams that try to play, so congratulations to our players.

"We did everything I want. We had a great attitude.

"The first-half was more balanced, we controlled the second-half and I think our boys deserve the three points. A special mention must go to our supporters who pushed us too.

"We prepare well and we analyse well our opponent. We know they like to have possession and to create chances against everyone that comes here. I'm happy of course but it's only three points so we must rest now and prepare for our next game.

"I don't like to talk about individual players because the most important is the team. It's a good start but it's only 3 points more. It's important to win first away match in the season."

5:20 PM

“We're buzzing” - Gray

Andre Gray spoke to the broadcast media after the final whistle:

"We're buzzing. Over the moon. Been a long hard week, put lots of effort into how manager wants us to play, put it into practice today.

"Richarlison is quite quiet, a great player and a good character. We were on the same wavelength today, hopefully we can keep causing people problems.

"We need to be more clinical. We should've done better with a few chances.

"I got a great welcome last week at home, and it was good to start first game today. It's a great feeling, but there's lots of work still to do.

"It's been a big change for me personally, the way the manager wants me to play, so I've got a lot to learn. I should've scored.

"We've had a great start, and we learnt from last week and put that into practice today.

We were the better team and we managed to get in front. It gives us something to build on, but there's always things we can do better."

5:10 PM

Caps on Cherries result

Étienne Capoue spoke to Premier League Productions about his winning goal and the result against Bournemouth:

"I worked hard during training on shooting and when I shot I felt it was going to the goal.

"We did well last week and finished with a draw against Liverpool.

"We created a lot of chances today, we didn't score them all, but we scored at the end which was the most important.

"We didn't expect such a good start from Richarlison but he has done so well."

Full-Time | AFC Bournemouth 0-2 Watford

Gray booked for making his feelings too well known to referee Roger East. Chalobah had robbed Cook of possession, but the Cherries' defender then blocked Gray's run onto what could have been an easy tap in. Cook was eventually cautioned, on advice from the linesman.

4:12 PM

Steve Cook leaves one in on Richarlison as he runs down the line.

4:06 PM - 49 MIN

Amrabat wide

The ball falls to Amrabat at the far post, and the Moroccan's cross-cum-shot eludes everyone. Still searching for his first goal in yellow.

Back underway

Bournemouth get us going again, with Watford now shooting toward the travelling Hornets.

3:48 PM

So close! Gray!

Fantastic skill from Richarlison takes Smith out of the game, and the Brazilian's square ball is hit over the bar from five yards out by Gray. It's the last action of the half. What a chance!

3:34 PM

Andre Gray gets in on the action in his first start in yellow.

3:31 PM - 31 MIN

Gomes saves

A long ball around the back of the Hornets' defence frees Afobe, and the Bournemouth front-man leathers one at Gomes' near-post which the Brazilian parries.

Hornets looking lively

Richarlison plays a wonderful through ball to Gray down the left, and the striker's cross is blocked by former Watford man Ake.

3:20 PM - 20 MIN

Amrabat whips in a superb cross from the right and Chalobah heads marginally wide from eight-yards out. He'll think he could have done better there.

3:16 PM

Asmir Begović claims the ball over the head of Sebastian Prödl.

3:07 PM - 7 MIN

Britos blocks

King crosses from the left for Fraser, his effort is saved by Gomes and Britos throws himself in front of Afobe to deflect the rebound over the bar. A goal looked certain. 0-0.

Hornets Head Coach Marco Silva has spoken to BBC Match of the Day ahead of this afternoon's clash with Bournemouth:

"We have a strategy for the match. Three of the four changes are for injuries of course.

"Richarlison has worked very well and is starting to adapt. It's not easy for a young boy, he's only 20-years-old but we believe he can adapt. Andre [Gray] is ready to play, but Troy [Deeney] is not quite fit to start.

"He is good competition for me and the team and they [the strikers] know to show me during the week they can be in the team.

"Now is the moment to look forward, it is a tough game for sure, because at home they are strong.

"We put our ideas on the pitch, we respect Bournemouth and we try and win the match."

Howe on Silva

Opposition Manager Eddie Howe had his say on Marco Silva, recalling their meeting last season:

"We played Hull in Marco Silva’s first game and that day Hull were very impressive, came from a goal down and were very strong. He built spirit from quite a low ebb.

"After the game he also left an impression on me, he was very friendly and knowledgeable and had done his research about the Premier League. It doesn’t surprise me that he still in the league with a job."
