Silva speaks

"The second half was better and more like we expected. We showed good defensive organisation, but we need to do something different in attack as we prepare for the first match in the Premier League.

"We were too slow with ball in the first half and had a few positional problems. What I saw in the second half was a bit more like what I want to see in our team.

"This is our home. I said to the players beforehand we need to build something strong here. The connection needs to be strong. Next weekend we need a full stadium. I want to build something special between us and our fans."

4:49 PM

FULL-TIME: Watford 0-0 Real Sociedad

The Graham Taylor Trophy is shared as Watford and Real Sociedad play out a goalless draw.

It was a stop-start second-half, interrupted by a regular flow of substitutions, but Success probably had the Hornets' best chance late on, blazing over the bar from close-range.

4:49 PM - 88 MIN

Success fails...(0-0) score.

A Watson free-kick is nodded on by Mariappa, but Success horribly skews a volley at the far-post, sending the ball well over the bar. He should have won it here for the Hornets.

4:45 PM - 83 MIN

Chalobah sees some action earlier in the second-half.

4:44 PM - 82 MIN

Amrabat piledriver (0-0)

Amrabat lets fly from outside the area, striking the ball with real venom, but Rulli saves well and holds onto the ball.

4:41 PM - 79 MIN

More substitutions!

Mariappa and Mason come on in place of  Kaboul and Holebas.

Everybody's looking to get some final minutes under their belt ahead of the Premier League season opener against Liverpool next weekend.

4:40 PM - 78 MIN

Substitutes combine

Great burst of pace from Femenia down the right. The Spaniard beats his man and crosses for Okaka, who lashes over the bar first-time.

4:36 PM - 74 MIN

Aggiretxe comes on

Agirretxe comes on for former Southampton man Juanmi.

4:35 PM - 72 MIN

Here comes Ben

Ben Watson takes to the field. A warm applause for the withdrawn Abdoulaye Doucoure.

4:31 PM - 69 MIN

Two more substitutions

Prodl and Hughes also take to the field for Watford, with Britos and Cleverley withdrawn.

4:29 PM - 68 MIN

Real Sociedad switch-up

IN: De la Bella, Gorosabel, Concha, Januzaj, Guevara.

OUT: Rodrigues, Illaramendi, Odriozola, Oyarzabal, W. José.

4:28 PM - 68 MIN

Silva rings the changes

Three Watford substitutions: Femenia, Capoue and Success come on for Janmaat, Chalobah and Pereyra.

4:21 PM - 58 MIN

Dangerous deliveries

The Hornets look a different side in this half, putting sustained pressure on the visitors and whipping in some dangerous crosses. You can almost sense a goal coming...

4:20 PM - 56 MIN

Two bites at the cherry for Chalobah

Chalobah's 25-yard free-kick clatters the wall. The ex-Chelsea midfielder then fires in the rebound but that's also blocked.

Watford the more likely side since the break.

4:15 PM - 54 MIN

Janmaat and Rodrigues compete for possession.

4:13 PM - 52 MIN

Goal ruled out (0-0)

A cross from the right is headed in by Okaka off the post, but the linesman cuts short Watford celebrations. The big Italian almost made an instant impact!

4:07 PM - 46 MIN

We're back underway!

Okaka joins the fold as Marco Silva looks for goals in the second-half.

Warming up

It looks as though Stefano Okaka could come on in the second period, he's currently out doing some individual warm-ups on the pitch.

3:51 PM - 45 MIN

HALF-TIME: Watford 0-0 Real Sociedad

The first-half ends goalless, mostly thanks to a few smart saves from Heurelho Gomes.

La Real have been on top, as you would probably expect for a side that finished 6th in La Liga last season.

3:39 PM - 35 MIN

Ref? (0-0)

Watford have a decent penalty shout turned down by Anthony Taylor as Sinclair is hauled down in the area. The Hornets are getting closer to an opener though.

Gomes double-save (0-0)

Sociedad's top scorer last season - Willian Jose - cuts inside from the left and sees a slightly deflected shot saved by Heurelho Gomes.

Then Rodrigues blasts one in from 25 yards, which the Brazilian tips over the bar. Visitors on top so far.

“Graham did more for Watford than just build a team” - Motson

BBC Match of the Day commentator John Motson gives a moving speech about his great friend, Graham Taylor:

"It may be that some younger supporters in the ground, maybe can't appreciate what Graham did for Watford.

"Graham Taylor did more for Watford than just build a team. He built a club - club with a community spirit.

"I can't think of any manager in all my years who did more for a single club than Graham Taylor did for Watford."
