Matchday live

6:00 PM

That's A Wrap

That's all from us here on Matchday Live as Watford progress to the Fourth Round of the FA Cup.

Keep your eyes peeled on watfordfc.com for out Match Review page, with social reaction, exclusive post-match interviews from goalscorer Jerome Sinclair and academy graduate duo Brandon Mason and Carl Stewart a full match report and extended highlights (available tomorrow).

5:45 PM

Mazzarri Post-match

Watford Head Coach Walter Mazzarri spoke post-match to BBC and watfordfc.com:

"I am happy because all players including [Brandon] Mason from start played well. I am happy with overall performance of team.

"I was very happy with the new faces. Mason made his full debut and managed to do very well. It is something important for long-term future of the club.

"It is a good win for a team not doing very well with results. This today will help with confidence for Premier League.

"It is very important to win - especially for our fans. We wanted to give them this satisfaction and hopefully we can do the same next week against Middlesbrough."

5:35 PM

Sinclair - "Great to get on the scoresheet"

Jerome Sinclair got his first goal for Watford today, and he spoke to the media after the final whistle:

"We wanted to go out there and give the fans something to cheer about. We'll draw a lot of confidence from this today ahead of next week.

"It was a tough afternoon but we managed to come out with the win and get through to next round. It was all about biding our time and opening the them up.

"It's great to be able to get onto the scoresheet today and it's something I've been looking to do. To get that goal will do me a world of good and I'm looking to push on.

"I can't describe the feeling [of scoring]. As I was getting closer it opened up and I just thought I need to hit this. Hopefully I've given the manager something to think about today.

"It shows the young players there's a pathway to the first team and Brandon [Mason] has done so well today. Being a young player at a Premier League club you know you have to take your opportunity."

FULL-TIME: Watford 2-0 Burton Albion

The FA Cup provided a good opportunity for the Golden Boys to right recent wrongs and they did that with a solid performance against Burton Albion.

Christian Kabasele put the Hornets ahead in the first-half, meeting a cross from Brandon Mason, before Jerome Sinclair produced a fine individual run and goal midway through the second-half.

Mason was particularly impressive, continuing in the energetic fashion of his display against Spurs on New Year's Day.

It was a day of debuts too, as Brice Dja Djedje made his first outing in yellow, as did academy graduate Carl Stewart (pictured below).

Back Once Again

It's not his first return to the Vic, and Lee Williamson will be a familiar face to those Watford fans who remember the Golden Boys 2006/07 Premier League campaign.

The Jamaican midfielder scored 5 goals in 78 appearances for the Hornets.

Then And Now

Lloyd Dyer played 16 times for the Golden Boys, scoring three times. But the 34-year-old winger found it hard to get into the Hornet's team, and spent time out on loan at Birmingham, before moving to Burnley on a permanent basis.

He played just a handful of games for Sean Dyche's side, but has been a regular for the Brewers since joining on a free transfer in summer 2016.
