My Hometown: Mattie Pollock

By: Watford FC Staff

In the ‘My Hometown’ series, the Golden Boys reflect on their humble beginnings, lifting the lid on what’s special about the place they call home.

Next up is defender Mattie Pollock, who hails from Middlesbrough, England...

How would you describe your hometown?

It’s a really different place. I love it and all my family and friends from school are still up there.

Traditional dish?

Chicken Parmo, which really isn’t very good for you! It’s just chicken with this sauce called bechamel and cheese – it’s got the most calories I’ve ever seen but it’s unbelievable. It’s very Middlesbrough, nobody will ever have heard of it.

Drink you’d have with it?

For me, I’d have a Diet Coke, but you could have any other drink with it.

Favourite restaurant?

There is one near me called the Treehouse, which is very nice. I go there with my family and they do all sorts of food because it’s a pub. It’s really nice to be fair.

Sight you have to see?

If you’re going to Middlesbrough you have to see the Roseberry Topping. It’s a great National Trust site and everyone goes on walks up there. It’s one of the biggest sites up there.

If you could introduce a visitor to one person?

I don’t know if many know him, but for me being a Middlesbrough lad I used to watch Ben Gibson who currently plays for Norwich City. I watched him and I supported him as a Boro fan. I think he was captain as well so I would say him if anyone asked.
