Academy 1-100: Jonathan Lawson

By: Watford FC Staff

In the 1-100 series, our Young Hornets choose seven numbers between 1 and 100, answering questions that correspond to each specific digit.

Next up is Jonathan Lawson, who has featured for Watford across the Under-21 and Under-18 age-groups so far this season.

Previously at Cray Valley, the 18-year-old forward put pen to paper on a one-year deal with an additional one-year option in the summer of 2023.

9 - You must use your weaker foot at all times in a game where possible, how well would you do?

It needs a bit of work so I’m not sure about that one. A goal every two or three games I reckon.

10 - You’ve been put in charge of the club’s media department for a week, how do you run things?

First things first, I’m taking everything over! I’m only joking, I’ll keep it the way it is.

25 - The whole squad has been placed in a Hunger Games/Squid Game-type affair. Who do you trust?

I reckon Prince Sikiru and I could go a long way. Not sure I’d trust anyone else though. He’d be a really good team player.

42 - What is the biggest sacrifice that you’ve had to make in order to achieve what you have in your career?

That’s a good question. There has been a lot of hard work, travelling and training to get to where I am. Sacrificing summers and time with friends and family. It’s all about discipline.

73 - What’s the funniest thing that you’ve seen happen in football (on or off the pitch)?

I’ve seen a couple of funny things. People making a lot of noise on the sidelines, parents arguing, and stuff like that.

89 - What is the one thing that you most want to achieve before your career comes to an end?

Representing any of my countries would be a huge achievement. I’m eligible to play for Nigeria or England at the moment.

100 - Best thing about your country?

I’ll pick Nigeria and say that the food is the best thing – jollof rice in particular.
