The Hornets are pleased to confirm the signing of Newcastle United defender Jamal Lewis.

The 25-year-old left-back, who has 30 senior caps for Northern Ireland, moves to Vicarage Road on a season-long loan, with an option to buy.

Having made his professional debut for Norwich City in 2017, Lewis became a key part of the Canaries’ 2018/19 promotion-winning side and was named in the Championship Team of the Year at the end of the campaign.

He played 28 times in the Premier League the following season and despite Norwich’s relegation, Lewis impressed sufficiently to remain in the top-flight, signing for Newcastle United for a reported £15million.

The athletic full-back, who is equally comfortable in offensive positions, has made 36 outings for the Magpies in all competitions.

Lewis’ first appearance on the international stage came in 2018 and since then he has featured regularly for Northern Ireland in World Cup and European Championships qualifying as well as the Nations League.

Welcome to Watford, Jamal!
